Self Sufficiency Program
The Self-Sufficiency Program is open to eligible low-income residents of Minneapolis who are: |
- Actively working toward self-sufficiency
- Willing to work on improving the quality of their life
and their familys life
- Motivated to learn goal setting
- Committed to attending scheduled meetings and
workshops
- 18 years of age or older
- Out of crisis
- Enrolled in a job training program, currently going
to school, currently employed, or actively seeking employment

- The life skills component consists of workshops designed to provide information, support, awareness and tools that equip families with skills for lifelong personal growth.
- Parenting, Employment Readiness, Time Management, Self-esteem and Stress Management
- Workshops are offered on a monthly basis either in-house or at partnering agencies (Some workshops are customer designed). The workshops are offered to all customers in the Self-sufficiency program including youth and children.

Financial Management Component
What does the component do?

- The financial management component works with participants to assess their current financial situation while teaching them the necessary skills to plan for their future.
- The financial management component offers 10-12 hours of classroom training and follow-up for all family members.
- Customers will create a spending plan and understand financial well-being.
- Customers will also order their credit report from the 3 major credit bureaus and have an opportunity to have one-on-one counseling regarding credit repair and debt reduction.
