Energy Assistance Program

The Energy Assistance Program (EAP) is designed to provide financial assistance to low income families and individuals who live in the city of Minneapolis in order to help with the increased costs of home heating during the winter season. Program begins October 1st, and ends May 31st.

Eligibility

  • Eligibility is based on household gross income for the past three months, household size and consumption for the past 12 months.
  • Applicants in subsidized housing responsible for electricity or heating bills are eligible for this program.
  • Applicants may own or rent their home.
  • Households DO NOT need to be threaten with a disconnection notice or behind on their utility gas or lights bills to apply.

An application must be completed, dated and signed in order to receive Energy Assistance.
