The Children & Family Development (CFD) Division provides programs and services that promote, empower, and nurture families and communities toward self- sufficiency. Programs employ a strength-based, holistic approach, designed to meet families “where they’re at,” and equipping them with the skills and inner resources needed to live a high quality of life and positively impact the direction of their communities.
The GROW Program Free, customized & confidential life coaching sessions available to low-income Minneapolis residents who are interested in creating positive change in their lives. Community Action of Minneapolis has a skilled team of Children & Family Services staff, ready to work with individuals and families to develop and frame long- and short-term goals, helping chart a path to success and self-sufficiency. We focus on eliminating barriers and positioning residents to reach their full potential. Eligible participants can benefit from up to 4 customized coaching sessions, offering flexible appointment times during both the daytime and evening hours. SNAP Outreach & Application Assistance SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program provides additional dollars to help individuals & families stretch their monthly food budget. Contact the SNAP Outreach Line at (612) 767 – 1741 for more information. Eligible participants can receive help completing the SNAP support application, as well as assistance in obtaining supporting documentation and help with expedited submission.
Community Empowerment Program The Community Empowerment Program is committed to improving the lives of low-income residents of Minneapolis through providing education and information on issues that will directly or indirectly affect them personally or the community in which they live.
Power Workshops Power Workshops are free, interactive training sessions on subjects ranging from personal health & neighborhood safety to career planning & financial management that promote self-sufficiency. Community Action of Minneapolis’ Power Workshops help participants manage their finances, households, employment and reach their full potential. Workshops are offered monthly and are open to any low-income Minneapolis resident interested in developing valuable life skills.
