Community Empowerment

Community Empowerment empowers low-income residents in the city of Minneapolis through education and information on legislation, proposed bills or events on the federal, state, or local levels which will directly or indirectly affect the community in which they live. The program is designed to elicit involvement on issues that affect their livelihood. The Empowerment Program is also active in welfare reform.

The empowerment of a community (or organization) is an increase in its strength, improvement in its capacity (ability) to accomplish its goals.

 I Stand with Magic Campaign.com

Community Action of Minneapolis is committed to being a part of the solution to the reduction of HIV/AIDS epidemic in the community.  One way in which we have chosen to do this is by committing to sponsor the “I Stand with Magic Program” and other HIV/AIDS education/awareness activities.

What is the “I Stand With Magic Program “?
The “I Stand With Magic” Program is a part of the Campaign to End Black HIV/AIDS, a partnership between Abbott Laboratories and the Magic Johnson Foundation committed to fighting HIV/AIDS in our community.  The program is open to all concerned persons over the age of 18, regardless of race or HIV status.  We need to stand together to fight HIV/AIDS.

What Happens When I Join?
  • You will receive a membership kit that includes important information about fighting HIV, protecting yourself and those you love, along with information you can pass to get them involved, too.
  • You will also receive an I Stand with Magic pin and membership card, as well as newsletters with updates on how your efforts are making strides to stop the spread of HIV (all materials will be sent in a plain envelope).
  • You will have the option to add your name and/or photo to the members photo album on ISTANDWITHMAGIC.COM
  • You will become an important part of the community taking a stand against HIV/AIDS.
